Keith A. J. Hay, President, Ottawa

Educated at the University of Southampton, the University of Toronto, and Brown University, Keith Hay is a recognized authority on Asian economies; industrial and agricultural development; trade and commercial policies around the Pacific Rim; international business and economic development.

He is a Professor of Economics at Carleton University, Ottawa, and a consultant to several Canadian government departments, multinational corporations and banks. He has participated in the work of a Canadian Royal Commission and a number of task forces. He has also worked extensively overseas.

Keith Hay's expertise covers international trade and investment mechanisms, project and development financing, agricultural and fisheries development as well as related trade and marketing, regional and sectoral growth plus strategic analysis of Asia's, Latin America's and Eastern Europe's futures. James W. Dean, Executive Vice-President, Vancouver

Dr. Dean was trained at Carleton, Brown and Harvard Universities. James Dean is a world-class authority on banking, finance and debt management. He has worked in Europe, Africa and Asia and held appointments at leading financial institutes and well known universities.

He is a Professor of International Finance at Simon Fraser University and Kaiser Distinguished Professor of International Economics at Western Washington University. He is a consultant to the World Bank and the Canadian International Development Agency.

James Dean's expertise includes foreign investment, debt management, balance of payments analysis, international trade and its finance and free trade regimes. His regional expertise includes Africa, the Americas and Asia.

Tadesse Gebre-Kidan, Senior Consultant, Ottawa

Tadesse Gebre-Kidan, Senior Economic Consultant with Econolynx International, was educated at Haile Selassie I University, Addis Ababa and Columbia University, New York City. Having chaired the G-24, he has extensive experience in commercial, central and international banking and finance as well as international trade and economic relations. Held several responsible positions at policy-making levels.

As governor and deputy governor of Ethiopia's central bank for more than 12 years he managed foreign exchange resources, regulated credits, managed external balance of payments, advised the government on matters pertaining to fiscal and other economic policies, managed manpower resources and represented the country in regional and international organizations.

Tadesse Gebre-Kidan is currently coordinating a study on the efficacy of structural adjustments and the role of regional integration on adjustment efforts in four Southern African countries. Languages: English, Amharic, French.

Gilles Blanchet, Senior Consultant, Ottawa

Dr. Gilles Blanchet holds a doctorate in psychology. He has worked in developing countries and on issues concerning them for the past 25 years. He recently retired as senior manager of Evaluation at the Canadian International Development Agency. Dr. Blanchet brings with him over two decades of experience managing CIDA program and project evaluation mandates. He is now working as a consultant on a number of education projects around the world, including one at the University of Costa Rica in San Jose. Languages: English, French and Spanish.

Hillary Savage, Social Sciences Consultant, San José, California

Educated at Carleton University, Savage has an honours degree in social sciences, emphasizing international law. As a consultant Savage has contributed to several studies on structural adjustment and has worked on the role of women in the garment industry in Bangladesh. Her most recent work has concerned structural adjustment and social development in Guyana, and she has edited recent Econolynx studies on infrastructure and trade and aid.

He was at Chamber of Commerce for five (5) years. Was full time for Canada-India Business Council -- period when EXAft started to recognize India as a real market. Involved in Roy MacLaren visit to India in 1994 (50 business people), year later was involved with PM=s Team Canada -- helped organize New Delhi program. Was involved with JV program under CID $500,000. Lots of visitors from India. Was editor of newsletter and change in Indian government has hurt him.

Now specializing in project proposals for CIDA. What about the PSD aspect of operations in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh (his friend is Vivian Escott).
